Data Analyst (SQL, AWS)

Your initial mission will focus on turning a federal program's operational data into trusted, actionable numbers. Depending on immediate program needs, you will:

  Define key measures alongside process owners and document the business rules behind every number.

  Write clean SQL queries that transform raw platform data on Amazon Aurora and related AWS data stores into clean, reconciled analytical datasets.

  Build recurring reports and dashboards in tools like Power BI or Tableau with documented measures, refresh schedules, and governance controls.

  
  


• 
  

  Trace data discrepancies to their root causedefinitions, timing, filters, or source systemsuntil every number is fully explained.

  
  


• 
  

  Replace manual, error-prone reporting with repeatable, tested automated workflows.

  
  

• 
  

  Trusted Metrics: The foundational numbers a federal program relies on, complete with full data provenance.

  
  


• 
  

  Clean Datasets: Reconciled analytical datasets that align source fields, business definitions, and calculation logic.

  
  


• 
  

  High-Impact Dashboards: Visualizations stakeholders return to because they load fast, answer core questions, and never mislead.

  Audit-Ready Evidence: Validation checks, reconciliation reports, and issue logs built to hold up under audit scrutiny.

  AI-Assisted Workflows: Modern analytics practice leveraging AI coding assistants and language models across the development lifecycle.

  
  

You are precise with numbers and naturally suspicious of unexplained anomalies. You move easily between a stakeholder's high-level question and the underlying data needed to answer it, preferring to deliver one number the team can trust over ten they cannot. You adapt quickly across roles, experiment and learn rapidly, and would rather own an outcome than just be handed a task.

  Clearance & Location: Sole United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination are required. This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area requiring regular in-office presence in DC.

  Experience & Education: 3+ years of dedicated data analysis experience and a Bachelor's degree.

  Technical Chops: Proficiency across the core analytical stack and tooling, including:

  Strong, practical command of SQL.

  Experience building reports and dashboards in business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, or comparable).

  Familiarity with analytical scripting in Python or R.

  Proven ability to own an analysis from initial question through delivered, documented answer.

  Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  Master's degree in a relevant field.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with cloud data platforms on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  
  


• 
  

  Experience working with federal program, financial, or performance data.

  Familiarity with AI-assisted developer and analysis tooling.

  Base Salary: $67,000 to $123,000 per year.
