Urgent Surgery Associates (URSA) is seeking a full-time Critical Care Physician and/or Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in Dallas, Texas, a nationally recognized Level I Trauma Center and major regional referral center.
This is an exceptional opportunity for physicians who thrive in a high-acuity environment and are passionate about caring for complex surgical and critically ill patients. Our physician-led team provides comprehensive critical care services across multiple specialty ICUs and is actively involved in education, quality improvement, research, and program development.
Clinical Practice Highlights
Physicians provide care for a diverse and highly complex patient population, including:
Care of critically ill trauma, acute care surgery, and emergency general surgery patients in a high-volume tertiary and quaternary referral center
Extensive experience managing complex blunt and penetrating trauma at a nationally recognized Level I Trauma Center
Comprehensive postoperative management of complex surgical, transplant, and critically ill patients
Cardiothoracic and surgical ICU care, including heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant populations
Participation in one of the region's leading advanced mechanical support programs, including VV-ECMO, VA-ECMO, ECPR, LVADs, RVADs, Impella devices, and other temporary mechanical circulatory support technologies
Our program offers extensive exposure to ECMO and mechanical circulatory support, making this an ideal opportunity for physicians interested in advanced critical care therapies and the management of some of the region's most challenging patients.
Academic Environment
Baylor University Medical Center serves as a major teaching and referral center with active residency and fellowship programs. Candidates should have an interest in academic medicine through teaching, mentorship, quality improvement, research, leadership, or program development.
Schedule
Approximately 14 shifts per month
12-hour shifts

Qualifications
We welcome candidates who are:
Trauma and Acute Care Surgeons
Board Certified in General Surgery
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgical Critical Care
Critical Care Physicians
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Pulmonary Medicine, or Internal Medicine
Board Certified or Board Eligible Critical Care Medicine with significant experience in ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiothoracic critical care are strongly encouraged to apply
