The Core and Coil Assembler is responsible for the mechanical assembly of critical internal components used in the manufacture of large industrial electrical equipment. This hands-on position requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality while working with large components, overhead lifting equipment, hydraulic systems, and specialized assembly tools.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong focus on safety, craftsmanship, continuous learning, and teamwork while performing complex assembly operations in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in accordance with established workplace organization standards (5S).
Collaborate effectively with supervisors, team members, engineering, quality, planning, and other support functions.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and technical specifications to ensure accurate assembly.
Perform assigned work based on written and verbal instructions.
Complete contamination control and cleanliness procedures, including vacuuming, magnetic sweeps, and equipment cleaning as required.
Assist in the training and development of new team members.
Safely operate overhead cranes and approved lifting equipment to position and assemble large components.
Operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles, when authorized, to transport materials throughout the facility.
Position and install large electrical coils using cranes, lifting fixtures, and hand tools.
Assemble rigging systems and operate hydraulic pressing equipment to secure and compress assemblies according to specifications.
Install steel laminations and structural components using cranes, torque tools, hand tools, and other specialized equipment.
Complete additional assembly tasks as assigned while maintaining established quality and productivity standards.
Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning skills.
Experience using industrial hand tools, torque tools, hydraulic equipment, lifting devices, and powered material-handling equipment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Ability to learn new processes and adapt to changing production requirements.
Required
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Preferred
Previous experience in heavy mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, industrial manufacturing, or similar production environments.
Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, or other industrial lifting equipment.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
Ability to safely handle and maneuver large or heavy components using mechanical lifting devices.
Occasional work at elevated heights or in confined spaces.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment throughout the work shift.
Manufacturing environment involving large industrial equipment.
Exposure to moving machinery, overhead lifting operations, industrial noise, and varying temperatures.
Requires strict adherence to established safety, quality, and operational procedures.
