Control Room Operator - Biomass Power Plant

Opportunity to join a hands-on, rotating-shift environment operating a 22 MW wood-fired power generation facility.

This is a high-responsibility role where you will oversee safe and efficient plant operations, troubleshoot equipment, and support plant performance while working closely with the Operations Supervisor and steam plant teams.

The Control Room Operator is responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient operation of all plant equipment, including turbine generator sets, steam boilers, pumps, air compressors, conveyor systems, fans, electric motors, ash handling systems, and chemical treatment systems. You will monitor equipment from the DCS and on the plant floor while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations

• Operate plant equipment from the DCS and on the plant floor as required.
• Maintain normal operating conditions and perform rounds on all equipment.
• Report operational status and any irregularities to management and shift teams.
• Troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation.

Maintenance & Coordination

• Perform assigned maintenance tasks and corrective actions for abnormal operating conditions.
• Review and support regular testing and treatment of boiler and cooling system water.
• Assist with preventive maintenance, housekeeping, and other duties as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures and site manuals, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Maintain compliance with state, federal, and site environmental regulations.
• Attend required safety, environmental, and industry-related training programs.

Experience & Background

• Knowledge of power generation and process equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&ID prints, and instrumentation.
• Physically capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and under adverse conditions.
• Able to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to respond to plant emergencies.
