A new commercial printing company is seeking an experienced Digital Press Operator to join its production team. This position is ideal for a hands-on printing professional who can independently set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain high-volume digital printing equipment while consistently producing quality work.
Set up and operate production digital printing presses
Review job tickets, artwork, proofs, and production specifications before beginning each job
Load paper and other substrates and configure press settings based on job requirements
Perform accurate press setups, changeovers, color adjustments, and registration
Monitor color consistency, image quality, registration, and overall print quality throughout production
Perform routine color calibration and quality-control checks
Troubleshoot press, feeding, imaging, color, and workflow issues
Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and minor equipment repairs
Monitor consumables including ink, toner, blankets, imaging components, and paper
Maintain production speeds while minimizing waste, spoilage, and downtime
Accurately record production information and communicate job status or equipment issues to supervisors
Coordinate with prepress, bindery, shipping, and other production departments to keep jobs moving efficiently
Follow company safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures
Qualified candidates should have hands-on experience operating one or more types of production digital printing equipment, such as:
HP Indigo 5500, 5600, 7000, 7500, 7800, 7900, 10K, 12K, 15K, 18K, 100K or similar
Xerox iGen, Iridesse, Versant or similar
Canon imagePRESS, varioPRINT, ProStream or similar
Ricoh Pro Series production presses
Konica Minolta AccurioPress production equipment
Kodak NexPress
Fujifilm Jet Press/J Press
Xeikon, Screen, EFI, HP PageWide or comparable production digital equipment
Experience with every platform listed above is not required. Candidates with strong experience on comparable production digital presses are encouraged to apply.
Preferred experience includes:
Digital press setup and operation
Color matching and color management
Registration and image-quality control
Variable-data printing
Sheetfed and/or roll-fed digital production
Paper, synthetic, label, or specialty substrate handling
Press calibration and profiling
Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
Digital front-end and workflow systems such as Fiery, HP SmartStream/HP DFE, Prinergy, XMF, or similar
Basic knowledge of prepress and PDF production workflows
Inline or offline finishing equipment experience is a plus
Previous experience operating production digital printing equipment
Strong understanding of commercial printing and print-quality standards
Ability to independently set up and run production jobs
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Excellent attention to detail, particularly regarding color and print quality
Ability to read and follow job tickets and production specifications
Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a deadline-driven production environment
Willingness to learn additional digital press platforms and production equipment
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented manufacturing environment
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on digital printing experience and equipment knowledge
Schedule: 1st / 2nd / 3rd Shift
Employment Type: Full-Time
