SUMMARY: The CNC Operator II is responsible for operating Swiss-style CNC machines to produce precision components according to specifications. This intermediate-level role requires strong machine operation skills, the ability to interpret blueprints, and basic troubleshooting ability. The CNC Operator II works with limited supervision, is expected to complete the majority of change-over/start-up tasks and may help train entry-level operators while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews blueprints to determine setup procedures to follow, machine tools required and stock to use. Selects machine tooling and installs them on the machine. Capable of setting guide bushings, collets and working with bar feeders with minimal supervision. Load and edit as required machine programs. Makes a trial run and tests for conformance to specifications using gauges, comparators, micrometers and calipers. Adjust the machine to attain specified tolerances. Understand blueprints and be able to use a variety of precision measuring devices. May recommend program and or tool changes to resolve production problems. May make tools and attachments, such as forming tools and cut-off tools, if not in stock. Responsible for form tool sharpening and maintenance. May work/train in other departments where needed. $23 - $36 an hour SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: CNC machine operation and setup Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation Precision measurement and quality inspection Troubleshooting and problem-solving Attention to detail and accuracy Time management and efficiency Safety awareness and compliance Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints. Detail-oriented. Good verbal and communication skills. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Required Must have a Minimum of two (2) years" experience in CNC operations and setup, specifically Swiss-style machining/turning Proficiency with basic CNC setup, offsets, and tool changes. Strong ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T symbols. Skilled in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.). Basic understanding of machining principles, speeds/feeds, and material properties. Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a machining environment. Desired Any experience lathes, mills, CNC machines, etc. a plus. Experience on Citizen Swiss machines.
