CNC Turning or Milling Operator (Lead option)
Position Description
Machines parts to customer specifications doing in-process part inspections. Lead will oversee and schedule turning or milling area; troubleshoot; program and work with milling or turning lead on first piece inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in Mfg. of parts which require strict customer specifications.
- Machine (turning/lathe/mill/mill-turn) product to customer specifications/print using CNC programs. Lead will
program, perform upgrades and check outcomes to changes.
- Deburr machined parts per requirements.
- Detect, segregate and report non-conforming material and foreign object debris (FOD).
- Control of non-conforming material along with understanding the use of documentation reporting such issue.
- Maintain part identification and lot segregation.
- Inspect work as necessary to prints callouts.
- Accurately report any damaged/nonconforming parts to team leaders/Mgr.
- Assist with packaging and shipping parts.
- Properly fill out documentation/job travelers accurately.
- Compliance with AS9100D and customer-specific requirements.
- Report any safety issues found in performance of normal job activities.
Competencies
- Print Reading
- Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is a plus.
- Multitasking (i.e. inspect/measure parts while other parts are running, running more than one machine at a time)
- Dexterity
- Endurance (standing on job for long-periods of time)

- Focus on safety/safe work track-record
- Reading/understanding gages and other measurement devices (such as calipers and micrometers)

Required Knowledge and Skills
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerance understanding.
- Brown and Sharpe Micro-Val CMM experience a plus.
- Experience with CMM Manager software a plus.
- Use of many types of inspection equipment, dial indicators, gage blocks, micrometers.
- Good communication skills.
- Good math skills
- Familiar with AS9100 shop environment.
Specific Training Required
- Familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and record keeping practices.
- AS9100 awareness.
Education Required/Preferred
- Vocational or non-vocational High School Graduate or GED
Direct Supervisor
Turning/milling lead and if lead the General Manager
Physical/Mental Demands
- Must be able to lift and move machined parts
Work Environment
- Clean and relatively quiet in most areas, hearing protection required in some areas
- Eye hazard potential, eye protection required for certain operations
Frequency of Overtime/Extended Hours
Occasional overtime, workload dependent.
