About Blueprint Advanced Manufacturing

Founded in 1969, Blueprint Advanced Manufacturing (BAM) is a Denver-based precision and production machining company with 50+ years of American manufacturing heritage. We serve aerospace, defense, industrial, and commercial customers and hold ourselves to demanding quality standards - ISO 9001 certified, with AS9100 certification in progress for completion by end of 2026. We are actively building the systems, people, and culture to sustain long-term excellence.

We partner with Pickens Technical College and the Rocky Mountain Tool & Machining Association (RMTMA) to develop the next generation of manufacturing professionals.

Position Overview

We are looking for a competent CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join our turning department. This is a dual-function role: you will set up jobs and run production. You will serve as the number two in the department, reporting to the Lathe Lead. The Lead owns complex setups and team management - your job is to own all other setups and keep the floor moving without hand-holding.

You do not need to be the most advanced machinist in the building. You do need to be self-sufficient: able to get a job set up from print, confirm it is in tolerance, and run it with ownership and accountability.

Our Equipment:

You will set up and run on industry-standard CNC turning equipment. Our turning center lineup includes:

  • DMG Mori
  • Okuma
  • Doosan
  • Tsugami
  • Haas

Control platforms in use include:

  • Fanuc
  • Okuma OSP
  • Selos
  • Siemens.

Experience across multiple control platforms is a plus. Live tooling experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up CNC lathes for production runs from print and work instructions, including live tooling operations
  • Perform first article inspection and confirm setups are in tolerance before releasing to production
  • Run production on your own setups - this is a setup-and-run role, not setup only
  • Make offsets and adjustments during production runs as needed
  • Troubleshoot setup issues and tooling problems independently for routine situations
  • Support operators on the floor - answer questions, make adjustments, keep machines running
  • Communicate clearly with the Lathe Lead on job status, schedule, and issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area consistent with our ISO 9001 quality standards
  • Participate in process improvement as we build toward AS9100 certification

Qualifications (Required):

  • 3+ years of CNC lathe experience in a production or job shop environment
  • Demonstrated ability to set up CNC lathes independently from print, including live tooling operations
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Competent with standard inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators
  • Ability to troubleshoot tooling, offsets, and common setup problems without supervision
  • Comfortable running production on jobs you have set up
  • Reliable, consistent, and accountable

Preferred (not required)

  • Experience on DMG Mori, Okuma, Doosan, Tsugami, or Haas turning centers
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Okuma OSP, Selos, or Siemens controls
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS9100-certified environment
  • Prior experience supporting or mentoring operators
  • Graduates of advanced manufacturing programs (e.g., Pickens Technical College) are encouraged to apply

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay Range: $25-$33/hr depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday; four 10-hour day shifts

Health Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life Insurance Employer-provided life insurance at no cost
  • Retirement Retirement plan
  • PTO Paid time off and company holidays
  • Development On-the-job training and educational opportunities
