The Chief Estimator will oversee the pre-construction and estimating functions for healthcare, life sciences, and academic construction projects. Based in Boston - expanding project footprint into Western MA 60+ years in business Work booked out through 2029 already 80%+ of work coming from repeat clients Occupied renovations + ground up construction across healthcare, life sciences and higher-education 100% employer paid benefits & more Description The Chief Estimator - Healthcare, Life Science & Academic will be responsible for Lead and oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for healthcare construction projects. Analyze project plans, specifications, and addendums to determine scope and requirements. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather accurate cost data. Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing. Evaluate project risks and create contingency plans to mitigate potential challenges. Present cost estimates and proposals to internal stakeholders and clients. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and construction methodologies. Mentor and guide junior estimators to foster professional growth within the team. Profile A successful Chief Estimator should have: A solid understanding of construction processes, particularly in healthcare projects - would also consider someone with a strong background in life science and/or higher education markets. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to create accurate cost estimates. Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively interact with clients and stakeholders. Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools. A proven ability to manage and lead a team of estimators. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
