Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Staff Accountant will have a broad range of exposure and hands-on involvement across all accounting functions, with some of the responsibilities to include: preparing month-end financial statements, financial reporting, accounts receivable and accounts payable, and managing payroll for 5 golf courses.

Essential Functions

  • Contributes towards the month-end financial statement process including: journal entries, bank reconciliations, analysis, reporting, etc.
  • Reconciles the general ledger accounts
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Accounts Payable. Entering invoices from vendors and paying vendors through QuickBooks
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
  • Manages the entire payroll process
  • Contributes towards the timely preparation and disbursement of all wages, salaries, and various payroll transactions
  • Reviews various weekly/monthly payroll reports
  • Continuously seeks quality process improvements
  • Reviews Balance Sheet and Income Statements
  • Serves as a mentor to other team members, providing instruction, support, and direction
  • Daily cash reconciliation with sales reports and depositing cash at the bank
  • Filing monthly/quarterly sales and payroll tax returns. Making federal and state tax deposits
  • Assisting other departments during the off season
  • Other Duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Three (3) to five (5) years experience as a staff accountant
  • Demonstrated application of in-depth financial, accounting, and business knowledge related to payroll and financial accounting
  • Ability to think analytically, apply analytical techniques, and to provide in-depth analysis and recommendations using critical thinking and sound judgment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of the work force
  • Above average ability working with Microsoft software
  • Must have experience with QuickBooks desktop software
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the staff and management both as a self-starter and in a team environment
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others with minimal supervision while developing department goals and objectives consistent with corporate vision and strategies
  • Trustworthy & Reliable; able to follow a structured schedule
