Staff One Recruiting is conducting a direct-hire search for an established, privately owned organization in the Chicago / North Shore area seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Office Manager.

This full-time, on-site opportunity is ideal for an experienced hands-on bookkeeper who can independently manage day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll while also taking ownership of key office and administrative responsibilities.

The right candidate will be highly detail-oriented, dependable, proactive, and known for strong follow-through. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys having broad responsibility within a growing small-business environment.

Compensation: $65,000-$70,000 annually
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Employment: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: On-Site
Location: Chicago / North Shore

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day AP/AR, bookkeeping and financial record keeping
• Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll information
• Perform bank, credit-card and account reconciliations
• Identify, research and resolve bookkeeping discrepancies
• Support month-end, year-end, tax and reporting needs in coordination with ownership and outside accounting professionals
• Support employee onboarding, benefits, PTO and personnel administration
• Coordinate vendors, insurance and general office administration
• Maintain organized, accurate and confidential financial and administrative records
• Take ownership of issues and follow them through to resolution

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
• Strong hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online
• Strong hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online Payroll
• Experience with AP/AR, payroll and account reconciliations
• Strong Excel and general technology skills
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization and follow-through
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Experience in a small or privately owned business environment is highly desirable
• Experience supporting HR, benefits or office operations is a plus
