Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $250, 000 - $500,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. You can view the 2025-26 scales

Position description

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, Department of Urology is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking faculty members with expertise in endourology and minimally invasive urologic surgery to join a large, collaborative, multidisciplinary program.

The successful candidates will manage patient populations from a broad referral base and will provide clinical care at multiple sites, including VAHCS San Diego. Clinical responsibilities will include the full spectrum of endourologic procedures such as ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), management of complex nephrolithiasis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) interventions, and advanced minimally invasive techniques.

The successful candidates will also participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and engage in scholarly activity aligned with the advancement of endourology and surgical innovation. This position offers a dynamic academic environment with opportunities for clinical program development and leadership within a high-growth area of specialty care.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or an MD/PhD in health-related fields.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Urology. Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.

Candidates must have completed a Urology residency program.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidates must have completed an Endourology fellowship or possess equivalent advanced training in minimally invasive urologic surgery and/or complex stone disease by the time of the start of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with an established or emerging record of scholarly activity in endourology are preferred.
