Advisor II - 2 Roles ( October 1, 2026 start)

LATAVCO (Prime Vendor) is staffing for 2 Advisor II roles for our higher educational client in North Houston, TX area. These will be FT temporary 40 hours a week contracts.

ADVISOR II 2 roles
Start Date: October 1, 2026

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Serves as the designated campus Advisor to students in all areas pertaining to their academic progress.
2. Provides individual, one-on-one academic advising to students on degree requirements and proper course selection.
3. Provides guidance to students to ensure transition to 4 year institutions.
4. Communicates and coordinate with universities to schedule transfer events for students.
5. Monitors, tracks and reports progress on a cohort group of students including success, retention, and completion rates.
6. Assist students in creating their (My Education Plan) and advises students on course prerequisites, co-requisites, and recommended course sequence.
7. Educates and provides students with information on resources and services available at the campus/center.
8. Reviews degree plans for students, approves/denies their request to graduate, and processes student registration repeals.
9. Develops workshops, information sessions, recruitment events, and advises students on employment opportunities in their field of study.
10. May work with local school districts on advising career technical education (CTE), dual credit, tech prep, and potential students.
11. Assists students in creating and developing resumes and cover letters.
12. Advisors of International students will advise on immigration issues, ensures college compliance with immigration procedures/regulations and provides admission advice to students.
13. Serves as member or chair of various committees/meetings, such as graduation, Veterans luncheons, Male Summit, Female Summit, Open House, New Student Orientation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

. Excellent communication and organizational skills
. Proficiency with common office software
. Strong attention to accuracy and detail for tracking student success
. Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of students
. Ability to prioritize duties
. High level of customer services

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

. Bachelors degree and at least 3 years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

. Experience working in Higher Education
. Experience assisting students who have unique barriers with educational success
