Job Summary: Ensure and enhance the health and well-being of our Residents by assisting the Life Enrichment Director in implementing an activities program geared to residents' individual interests, preferences, and abilities.
Activities Functions
Conducts a variety of activities such as crafts, baking, reading, parties and games
Assists with planning and hosting events for Residents, their families and community members
Assists in getting Residents to and from activities
May perform Resident assessments and medical record charting for activities
Personnel Functions
Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect of Residents per facility policy
Attends designated staff meetings as scheduled
Develops and maintains a good working relationship with other staff, whether within the activities department or with inter-departmental personnel
Completes assigned training in a timely manner
Utilizes materials and supplies in an efficient, cost-effective manner
Learns and follows fire and other work safety policies
Remains free of criminal conviction that may preclude employment in the nursing home setting (including but not limited to theft, battery, assault)
Reports pending criminal or civil charges or matters to the Administrator by the next business day
Follows all facility policies and procedures
Follows the direction of the Activities Director, Administrator and/or Director of Nursing
Always represents the United Pioneer Home in a positive manner unless contraindicated by law
Performs other duties as qualified for and as directed
Requirements:Qualifications
Able to communicate fluently in written and spoken English
Able to read aloud and speak in public
Basic working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite
Minimum age 18
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Demonstrated concern for the elderly and ability to treat Residents with respect and dignity
Ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of Resident information, per HIPAA regulations
Must enjoy spending one-on-one time with Residents, as well as group activities
Strong time management and teamwork skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend hours
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, sit and stand for up to 8.0 hours per shift
Ability to bend, squat, or reach overhead frequently
Able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 35 pounds occasionally
Eyesight sufficient to perform assigned tasks
Achieve negative assessment for infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB)
Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
Remain free of illegal drug use and signs of impairment as per facility policy
